snn2.JPG27-year-old Australian technology worker and gaming chief executive banker, a.ka. Ricdic, was thrown out of Eve Online, a game where players build massive corporations by mining astroids and take over virtual space, after being caught trading space kredits for real cash.  Ricdic stole 200 billion space kredits, according to a BBC News report, and traded them for approximatly $4300.

Ricdic used the cash to pay for medical bills and put down a deposit on a house.

“I’m not proud of it at all, that’s why I didn’t brag about it,” Ricdic told Reuters. “But you know, if I had to do it again, I probably would’ve chosen the same path based on the same situation.”

According to Eve’s terms and conditions, players can not trade space kredits for real money, but can steal from the EBank and use real money to purchase the space currency.

As news of the theft spread, many of the bank’s customers rushed to remove their virtual cash.
